University of Chester: ‘Foundation Hour’ address and Founder’s Day Sermon

On Wednesday 16 March 2016, Richard gave an address focusing on the University’s ethos, which is derived from its Church of England origins. He offered a Christian perspective of education and the idea of the Christian University.

On the following day, Richard gave a sermon at the annual Founder’s Day service, which is attended by the University Council as well as staff and students. The act of worship included hymns, readings, an anthem from the University choir, intercessions, and the staff long-service awards, an affirming aspect of the day. Richard’s sermon focused on the University’s ethos.
